Good Occupational Safety Practices

Every company, regardless of its size or sector, can take effective preventive measures. Some of the best practices include:

  • Identify hazards and evaluate risks in all areas of work.
  • Provide appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) depending on the nature of the tasks.
  • Regularly train employees on safety issues, equipment management and emergency protocols.
  • Document and report incidents and quasi-incidents, as a tool for learning and continuous improvement.
  • Establish and implement security policies and procedures, clearly communicated to all staff.

Resources available for employers

The SIFC offers several resources to support employers in their prevention efforts:

  • Specialized training and workshops in occupational safety, use of equipment, ergonomics and management of hazardous substances.
  • Occupational risk assessments carried out by SIFC experts in the workplace itself
  • Guides, posters and educational materials that promote prevention and can be placed in visible areas.
